First Intake receive well earned praise

Supply chain event at ABP Yetminster.  Live to Dead training was provided by EBLEX as part of a day tailored to the Future Farmers, understanding the lamb value chain.

 

Business Planning Workshops.  Intake 2 got to grips with farm accounts, balance sheets and cashflow to understand what makes a successful business.

 

Supply chain event: St Merryn Foods.  An hands-on, practical day began in lairage grading live lambs and then follwed them through to the carcass.  Training was provided in how to select finished lambs to achieve carcass specifications, maximising returns.  The full lamb supply chain was then explored in a really valuable day at the Merthyr Tydfil site.

 

Training courses organised for Future Farmers at Harper Adams.  Training in farm financial business analysis was provided at Harper Adams for those who wanted to sharpen their financial skills.

 

Business Planning Workshop 3: Change management.  Can you and your team deliver?  How can plans be put into practice, bringing the team along with you?  Fundamental leadership principles for any successful business.

 

Supply chain event at Anglia Farmers.  Learning the art of buying, selling and planning to maximise your margin - an element of team work and competition was added to a great day at AF in Norfolk.

 

Intensive training workshop: Getting started and strategic planning.  Intake 2 had the first of their two-day workshops, focussing on discovering key areas for development for each of the group.  A fantastic opportunity fir a Q&A with Richard Marris, Tesco's Commerical Director for Fresh Foods.

 

Supply chain event: Bayer Crop Science.  The role of crop protection in sustainable food production, what it takes to research and develop new chemicals, managing biodiversity - big questions posed during an insightful and informative day

 

Business Planning Workshop 1: Market and customer research.   The first of four business planning workshops for Intake 2.  Examining the importance of knowing your market, your customer and how to find out key information to plan your business.

 

Intensive training workshop: Supply Chain & the Customer.  The second of three two-day intensive workshops for Intake 1.  Expert training in media and communications skills, a masterclass on collaborative supply chains from ABP and Blade Farming, and consumer insight from dunnhumby were just some of the highlights.

 

Supply chain event at Thanet Earth.  A rare opportunity to visit the largest and most high-tech glasshouse production site in the UK, exploring marketing, investment planning, sustainability and more.  Mind blowing!

 

Welcome to the second intake of Future Farmers!  We held an induction day for Intake 2, hosted by AGCO at Stoneleigh on October 8th.  The second group of future farmers is just as positive, progressive and inspiring as the first.  We look forward to working with them over the next 12 months!

 

Supply chain event at Cranswick Country Foods.  Genuinely from farm to fork, this day began at an outdoor breeding unit producing pigs for Tesco's finest pork range.  We followed the supply chain right through from slaughter to packing, marketing and the changing consumer use of pork.

 

Supply chain event at Noble Foods.  An cracking day discovering the egg supply chain, egg marketing and production.  This included a visit to a colony production site and state of the art packing centre.  Discussion around production methods, market perceptions and the value of brands was truly insightful.  Eggcellent all round!

 

Supply chain event at Muller-Wiseman.  A fascinating day was spent at the Muller-Wiseman liquid milk plant at Manchester, exploring the liquid milk market and supply chain.  Topped off by a visit to a TSDG farm, hosted by one or our very own Future Farmers and his family.

 

Business Planning Workshop.  The Future Farmers explored farm accounts and financial planning at workshops on the 2nd & 3rd September.  This was the second in the series of 4 workshops designed to support the creation of a robust plan to develop or launch a farming business.

Future Farmers visit Toyota

A group of Future Farmers had the opportunity to visit Toyota's Engine Plant at Deeside to learn how the principles of Lean Manufacturing, developed by Toyota, can be applied to farming.  Lean enables Toyota Deeside to produce an engine every 54 seconds by optimising processes and eliminating waste of resources

Supply Chain Event at Adams Foods, Leek - 27th June

This was a fantastic day at Europe's largest cheese packing site, where the group was introduced to the principles of Category Management, tried their hand at cheese grading and discussed innovation and NPD

 

Business Planning Workshop 1: June 11th & 12th

The first of four Business Planning Workshops, focussing on market and customer research.  The series of business planning sessions will culminate in the Future Farmers being able to produce a solid business plan to help launch or develop their venture.

 

First 2 day training event was held for the Future 15 on May 15th-16th

Topics included Succession Planning, Entrepreneurship in Farming, Decision Making, and taking time to think in a structured way about your future, and how to take steps towards achieving your goals.

 

First Selection Event Completed
